When Heat Pump Installation Goes Wrong. What to Do?

Heat pumps are a safe and environmentally friendly solution for heating and cooling your home. As New Yorkers continue to distance themselves from fossil fuels, it’s essential to select a reputable heat pump contractor to work in your home, building, or business. Adopt Clean Energy will guide you through the heat pump installation process if you are a Mount Vernon or New Rochelle resident. We do not charge a fee for our service.

Adopt Clean Energy works in partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to promote heat pumps and ensure you have a safe and efficient installation. We at Adopt Clean Energy are not contractors, nor do we work for contractors. We provide services such as identifying heat pump financing, referring qualified professional heat pump contractors, and intervening when there is a problem between you and your contractor, at no cost to you.

When choosing a contractor to install your heat pump, it’s essential to consider the following:

1.     The contractor has been vetted and referred by Adopt Clean Energy.

2.     The contractor must have insurance.

3.     The contractor has the proper license and credentials to work in your town.

4.     The contractor must procure permits to install your heat pumps.

Adopt Clean Energy only works with contractors who abide by your communities’ rules and regulations for all heat pump installations. All contractors working with Adopt Clean Energy must have the appropriate building permits before installing heat pumps in your home, building, or business.  Permits instruct contractors about your town’s requirements for safe heat pump installation. Without them, life and property can be at risk.

If you are dissatisfied with an Adopt Clean Energy referred heat pump contractor, contact us at adoptcleanenergy.earth/contact-us or call us at 914.664.6356, and we will intervene on your behalf at no cost.

If you did not work with Adopt Clean Energy to secure a heat pump contractor, we advise you to do the following:

1.     Contact the heat pump contractor directly.

2.     Contact the agency that will pay incentives or rebates, if any.

3.     Contact your local consumer affairs office.

Adopt Clean Energy is here to protect you, your home, your building, and your business.
